Nature of telehealth
Telehealth uses electronic communications and technology to allow a patient and healthcare provider to interact when they are not in the same physical location.
Benefits and limitations
Potential benefits include convenience and improved access. Limitations may include incomplete information, technology failures, privacy risks, and situations where an in-person examination is more appropriate.
Patient responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate and complete information, disclose relevant medications and conditions, ask questions when something is unclear, and seek emergency or in-person care when directed.
Provider judgment
The reviewing provider decides whether telehealth is appropriate and whether any treatment is medically indicated. A provider may request additional information, decline treatment, or recommend in-person care.
Privacy and communications
Telehealth communications and health information should be handled according to applicable privacy requirements. Electronic communications carry risks that cannot be completely eliminated.
Consent and withdrawal
By continuing with a telehealth evaluation, you consent to receive services remotely. You may withdraw consent as permitted by law, although withdrawal does not affect actions already taken.
